We had this exact conversation when we were getting ready to sell our house and had schedule a carpet cleaning company to come out the next day. I wanted to just leave the furniture and either let me clean around them or move them as part of their job. My wife did not see it that way. She wanted to ensure that the whole room was cleaned and to do that we had to move all the furniture out. Ultimately. she was right as I asked and the cleaners would not have moved the furniture and it would have looked dumb if we had cleaned around them.
